Entre (“Between”)

2023
color pigment print on baryta paper
70 x 50 cm.
Sparked by an observation that rows of trees resemble a film strip, Entre seeks to capture the entirety of space and time flowing within a frame delimited by two trees.

If similar to a long-exposure image, the occupants of this space—passers-by, their dogs, and even a bird who decided to take a short break—are photographed at different moments. The superimposition of multiple images keeps each of the moment distinctly and for each layer to become an active participant. In a state between visibility and invisiblility, each subject fusions with one another to compose a scene both abstract and familiar, inducing the encounter of those who would not have crossed paths otherwise.

The title Entre meaning “between” in French, evokes the space between the two trees but also implies the relationship between all things that flowed through this scene, whether briefly or long.
